Ames CSD is looking for people willing to serve as volunteers to teach reading or math to elementary school students. Volunteers will be trained by certified staff and will work under supervision. Tutoring would be one hour per week on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. from March 1 to May 15, 2022.
As you know, we live in unprecedented times that affect our lives and the educational opportunities of our children. Although the Ames Community School District has been fortunate to continue quality basic education not only during a global pandemic, but also due to teacher shortages, we would like to expand additional academic opportunities for our students across the primary. We’ve been creative in maintaining the quality of education during these difficult times, and now we need your help.
The Ames CSD promotes a racially, ethnically, linguistically, and culturally diverse educational environment to broaden the academic experience of students and enrich our district. We are focused on creating and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion within organizational culture and our community. If you are interested in dedicating a small portion of your time to developing a student’s skill level, or know someone who would, please visit the Basic Tutoring Volunteer Form.
