For a city of just over 16,000 people, menomonia may not seem out of the ordinary. And this is precisely why Dustyn Dubuque and Becca Schoenborn of Downtown Menomonie Inc. has decided to launch its first podcast, Menom Town Center: The Podcast, which explores the places and people that make Menomonie a place to live – or to visit!
“We both felt that this piece of the work that we do here (at Downtown Menomonie Inc.) was missing,” Schoenborn said. “We are so focused on the city center, but there are so many other cool things about Menomonie we don’t have a chance to talk about.
The podcast – which was posted with Eau Claire Hometown Media and launched in early May – features interviews with local leaders on a variety of local topics – aimed at getting a behind-the-scenes look at people known to the community, as well as discover hidden gems in the community.
“Once you live here and are immersed in the community, it’s such a different place than you thought it would be,” Schoenborn said.
You might be wondering: how do they decide what topics to talk about? “We don’t,” Dubuque said. “We keep him really relaxed.”
